Statement
To facilitate ecologically sustainable, environment-friendly, socially
responsible and effective Solid Waste Management across the Asia-Pacific.
Mission
Statement
To form a network of NGO's, individuals, institutions, government
officials and other interest groups to primarily serve the objectives of:
- Information exchange.
- Cooperation on issues of sustainable SWM(Solid Waste Management) in
Asia and Pacific region.
Purpose
- To promote solidarity among various stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific
region on sustainable SWM policies and systems.
- To promote people's participation and the involvement of community
organisations, NGOs and the informal sector in SWM.
- To develop and disseminate information on policy, legal provisions,
technology, finance and management, public awareness, education and
training, community organisation and resource mobilisation. South-South
exchange and cooperation is to be emphasized.
- To promote research and action on innovative options for SWM.
- To influence public policy on key issues.
- To empower stakeholders at a local levels and increase their
effectiveness.
