S.S.M.Institute of Textile Technology was started by S.S.Marichettiar Trust in1980 through the efforts of Shri.S.S.M.Subramaniam, a reputed Industrialist, from the
S.S.M. Family, who are in manufacture of Textiles, Leather Chemicals, Fine Chemicals and Cement.

This Institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt.of India, and by the Govt. of Tamilnadu.
