Indian Hive Bee - Apis cerana indica
Beehive Workshop   Beehive
The council has selected strains of the Indian Hive bee suffering from a virus disease; and now trains men and women into beekeeping at four watersheds of the Palni Hills.

This is one activity that can sustain a forest and benefit without adversely affecting the same. The bees pollinate the trees and also improve biodiversity of species in the forest. The forest dependent communities can harvest the honey and beeswax.
