The Flexible Manufacturing system(FMS),is a state of the art manufacturing technology, incorporating CNC machining centres, other peripheral equipments and automatic material handling system, all controlled by a central computer.
HMT's FMS is designed for multi_stage, multi- product manufacturing of prismatic components. It consists of one or more horizontal machining centres with pallet changers,rail guided vehicle (RGV), stationary pallet store, the FMS controller and the traffic controller . The machining centres and the stationary pallet store are linked by the RGV for automatic handling of raw and finished components.
The FMS is ideally suited for medium-variety, medium-volume production. The actual configuration of the FMS has to be custom-engineered by HMT to meet specific needs .The FMS can be profitably installed in phases starting initially with a few machines, and adding more in later stages, depending on market demands.
