In the area of manufacturing automation, employing concepts of Computer integrated Manufacturing (CNC), the heart of the system is effective and continuous information flow from the design office to the final product.
Using an IBM - compatible PC along with commercially available NC programming software, including a post processor and the HMT DNC software ,it is possible to configure an in house DNC System with part programming station .
The part programming station can be used for generating the NC part programs from the component drawing. Colour graphic display and the tool movements are made available for visual check. The post processor program will generate the NC machine codes for the machine.
In the case of CNC machines, the concept of DNC (Direct Numerical Control) creates a link between the central CAD system and the machine, thus facilitating bi-directional on-line data transfer and thereby reducing unnecessary machine down-time. Storing of NC programs on tape or cassette is eliminated since the DNC System manages all the programs in a data bank.,
