CNC Cylindrical grinding Machine GNC18
  • Machine bed made of cast iron, heavily ribbed box type to absorb vibration and shocks. Hardened and ground guideways are fixed as integral part of the bed.

  • Grinding wheel slides made of high grade cast iron and runs on hardened and ground guideway of machine bed, with preloaded recirculating linear roller bearings fixed on to the slides, to provide stick-slip free motion.

  • Automatic centralized lubrication system for lubrication of guideways (Cenlub make).

  • Grinding heads fixed on top of either slide supported at three points.

  • Both grinding heads having a provision of tilting in both vertical/horizontal planes.

  • Wheel head spindles running on precision pre loaded NNK ( Double row cylindrical roller taper bore ) bearing and double row angular thrust ball bearings, with a provision of coolant supply through the spindle bore.

  • Wheel spindle driving motors are mounted on the machine bed.

  • Wheel spindles are driven by the motors through pulleys and Fenner couplings ( Flexible couplings ). Fenner couplings take care of misalignment due to tilt of grinding head and prevent motor vibrations to reach grinding head.

  • Wheel head slide are driven by servo motors directly coupled with pre loaded screw and nut arrangement.

  • Resolution accuracy of feedback system of slide ways is 0.001mm.

  • Repeatability and positioning accuracy of each wheel head slide is 0.003mm.

  • Hydraulic swing arm type dresser mounted on welded structure on the rear side of the machine, on a casting fixed to the machine bed. The dresser arm pivoted with taper roller bearings arrangement.

  • Three axes Siemens CNC control system to perform various cycles of the machine.

  • Manual pulse-generator (MPG) is provided to move any of the axes manually.

  • Machine is suitable to automatic plunge/through grinding cycle by CNC system programme.

  • Dressing cycle and wheel head slides repositioning to its original position through CNC system.

  • Automatic size correction due to wheel wear can be programmed.

  • Panel air conditioner for CNC system (Advance make).

  • Hydraulic unit is kept free standing outside the machine.

  • Built in interlocks for safe operation of the machine.

  • Pendant type operator control consisting CNC system and other machine operations.

  • Dust proof electrical cabinet consisting of servo drives and other switch gear items is free standing type.

2. SAFETY INTERLOCKS

Various interlocks have been incorporated by HMT in order to ensure safe operation of the machine.

The following interlocks have been provided.

  • Panel A/C gets ON with switching ON of mains switch.

  • Hydraulic machine cannot be switched ON unless dresser selector switch is at UP position.

  • Dresser arm moves moves to UP position wherever it may be after switching ON of hydraulic motor and stays there.

  • Lubrication system pump motor gets ON whenever hydraulic motor is switched ON.

  • Subsequent start of lubrication system pump motor takes place after every one hour.

  • Grinding wheels cannot be switched ON :
    1. If wheel guard top covers are open.
    2. If dresser arm is not at UP position.
    3. If any of wheel head slide is at extreme front or rear position.

  • Coolant cannot be switched ON unless grinding wheels are switched ON.
